Chicago Board Options Exchange Selects ClearCube Blade Workstations for Ops Center

Industry’s Most Reliable and Energy Efficient Blade Workstations to Power Command and Control Center that Monitors Mission-Critical Trading Applications

Austin TX, September 14, 2009 – ClearCube Technology, the leader in centralized and virtual computing, announced today that the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the largest U.S. options exchange and creator of listed options, has selected ClearCube blade workstations from CDW to provide reliable, energy-efficient computing power to monitor the exchange’s mission-critical trading applications.

“In collaborating with CDW on this project we indentified ClearCube blade workstations as the best solution for our Op Center because of mission critical nature of the trading applications that we’re monitoring,” said CBOE Vice President of Systems Operations Curt Schumacher.  “We tasked CDW to find a solution with 99.99% uptime reliability and they recommended ClearCube blade workstations that had the added benefit of a lower total cost of ownership due to significant gains in energy efficiency.”

“We’ve been a partner with ClearCube for over five years.  Their centralized computing solutions work well in mission critical environments like the CBOE network operations center, which require high availability, energy efficiency and high security.  We’ve deployed their solution for healthcare, financial services, commercial and government organizations and expect continued interest from our customers in their products,” said Andy Woerfel, CDW Advanced Technology Account Executive

ClearCube centralized computing solutions remove the PCs from the desktop and replace them with a small user port that connects to powerful blade workstations that are located in the datacenter.

“We’ve specifically engineered our blade workstations to eliminate the multitude of problems that distributed box PCs create for most organizations,” said Randy Printz, CEO, ClearCube Technology. “Because of our blade workstation design innovations we’re able to provide enterprises with greater reliability, manageability, energy efficiency and heat reduction resulting in a 40% reduction in the total cost of ownership, over traditional box workstations, for our customers.”

The CBOE operations center will be operational in the fourth quarter of 2009 and will provide monitoring and support of all trading applications running the exchange floor.
