2-5-2002 Austin, TX (February 25, 2002) - ClearCube Technology, Inc., the market pioneer and industry leader in client-blade computing and remote desktop management, today unveiled multi-monitor desktop solutions for the financial services market. The new products enable IT managers to dramatically improve computing security, lower operating costs by 30% and bring server level manageability to the complex financial services IT environment. "Financial institutions have long been forced to accept mediocrity from traditional desktop providers. Current desktop solutions do not provide the same level of availability and manageability that servers do, forcing IT managers to spend their days chained to desktop support," said Mike Frost, president and CEO of ClearCube Technology. "Our desktop architecture resolves these problems by centralizing individual desktops and managing them as if they were servers." ClearCube's revolutionary architecture enables the end-user PC to be cleared from the crowded working environment and into a secure data center. Each user's Intel based PC is condensed to a small form factor called a "CPU blade" which can be stacked in a standard equipment rack (up to 112 CPU blades per rack). By centralizing the blades and enabling remote switching from one blade to another, ClearCube delivers server-class availability (99.9%) and manageability while securing the vital data and PC assets. All of the video/USB data are transmitted over existing Category 5 cabling, previously used for Ethernet. ClearCube uses the latest processors from Intel including Pentium 4 (up to 2.2Ghz), and its multi-monitor solutions are designed to support the demanding application and OS needs of the financial market. "The advantages we get from ClearCube are: space savings, the ability to switch to another blade if the system goes down and our systems are better protected" said Scott Hill, Chief Technical Officer of Oak Associates, an independent equity investment firm. "With dual monitor support, within a year to two years we will be looking at being all ClearCube." ClearCube's new multi-monitor solution is being developed first with dual monitor support and then followed by scalable quad-monitor capability. The multi-monitor solution is specifically targeted at the multiple applications and multiple desktops that make IT management in financial services both complex and costly. "The ClearCube multi-monitor solution combined with our architecture frees up valuable desktop space and reduces the clutter and noise that plagues trading floors," said Rick Hoffman, vice president of engineering for ClearCube Technology. "By centralizing the desktop we provide IT managers with a secure solution that increases availability and frees time for them to work on new projects -- a foreign concept to most IT professionals." ClearCube's multi-monitor offering is fully supported and compatible with all aspects of the ClearCube Architecture, including blade switching and systems management. The dual monitor solution is based on the NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400 video chip and has two independent outputs managed by existing NVIDIA software. The system multiplexes frames from these two outputs down a single cable to be captured and played by pair of frame grabbers at the trader's desktop.
