6-26-2000 AUSTIN, TX (June 26, 2000) -- ClearCube Technology today announced a cost-effective solution for managing large numbers of PCs in one location. The companys ClearCube C3 product provides a managed PC architecture that delivers dedicated, Intel-based PC functionality to the desktop from a centralized, rack-mounted environment. C3 combines technologies into one solution that dramatically increases manageability and desktop uptime, said Mike Frost, President and CEO of ClearCube Technology. Our goal is to provide a better managed PC that increases user and support staff productivity without sacrificing functionality. Intel recognized the importance of the managed PC environment and has created products dedicated to improving this market, said Jeff McCrea, director, Intel Desktop Products Group. ClearCube has used Intels processor and chipset as the heart of its unique C3 architecture, which is a truly innovative approach to getting maximum performance and value from every workstation. ClearCubes technology enables users to have a completely standard experience on their desktops, thus alleviating software training costs. Standard Category 5 Ethernet cable connects the workstation to its CPU up to 200 meters away. The users PC processor is a dedicated CPU Blade, which is rack-mounted in a secure environment with up to 95 other Blades in a 19 footprint. The Blade is 100% compatible with existing software applications, peripheral hardware, and network equipment. In case of problems, the Blade can be replaced by a spare in seconds to maintain uptime for the user. ClearCube then ships the customer a new spare for next-day delivery. As part of launching the C3 product, the company has officially changed its name to Clear Cube Technology. Based in Austin, Texas, ClearCube is backed by more than $11 million in venture financing. The company was originally founded as a research and development company with the goal of developing cost-effective methods to transmit data faster and farther over existing copper wire. After obtaining more than 30 patents on data transmission, computing models and wire characteristics, the company began commercializing applications for the transmission of data over long cable runs in the managed PC environment.
