ClearCube Technology Teams with IBM to Deliver Virtualized Client Computing New Solution Combines Power of IBM BladeCenter with ClearCube Grid Center Management Software for Virtual Desktop Functionality Austin, Texas, November 14, 2005 - ClearCube announced today that they are teaming with IBM to offer a virtualized client computing solution. The new solution combines the security and reliability of IBM's BladeCenter servers with the flexibility and efficiency of Grid Center and Control Center software from ClearCube, which provide allocation and management tools to deliver a simple and easy-to-use virtualized desktop to end users. "Customers are looking to leverage their server infrastructure to significantly reduce the costs for their desktop environments. With this new virtual hosted client infrastructure solution, customers can now provide a desktop experience to the end-user by leveraging the BladeCenter platform," said Doug Balog, vice president and business line executive, BladeCenter division, IBM Systems and Technology Group. "ClearCube's software and expertise are a great addition to the BladeCenter ecosystem."IBM BladeCenter is the market leader in server blades and ClearCube is the pioneer and market leader in centralized client computing solutions. By utilizing the ClearCube software on BladeCenter, this new solution will be able to deliver a virtualized desktop for the user. By leveraging Grid Center, IT administrators can optimize hardware utilization by dynamically allocating users to the appropriate computing power based on their specific needs or pre-defined policies. Grid Center also enables administrators to seamlessly switch users to spare computing resources. In addition, IT administrators can manage the blades through ClearCube Control Center in conjunction with Blade Manager, which provides health status and automated alerts through graphically configured agents. "The popularity of blades continues to grow. We continue to see customer adoption across a variety of industries as well as for broadening set of applications," said analyst John Humphreys, IDC research manager for Enterprise Servers. "Centralizing compute resources is a good way to improve IT security, efficiency, effectiveness and availability." Grid Center has already been deployed by ClearCube in the healthcare, financial services, public and manufacturing sectors. The joint solution will initially target retail banking and then expand to other sectors. IBM and ClearCube are currently piloting the solution in branch banking environments where security and manageability are critical. By combining the server and end-user computing hardware into a single IBM BladeCenter platform, banks can dramatically simplify branch-level support while strengthening security and manageability. "ClearCube leads the industry in centralized computing solutions and has thousands of customers who have deployments ranging from small offices to large campuses," said Carl Boisvert, president and chief executive officer, ClearCube Technology. "This collaboration is a natural expansion of our existing IBM Global Services relationship and will greatly benefit our customers." ClearCube is also a member of the IBM BladeCenter Alliance Program and BladeCenter Open Specification Program.
