8-4-2003 Austin, TX – August 4, 2003—ClearCube Technology, the market leader in PC blade computing, today announced the ClearCube Fiber Optic Extension System. This point-to-point fiber optic solution ties into ClearCube existing hardware. It includes the Fiber C/Port with integrated fiber connectors and the Fiber Transceiver that converts copper signals to fiber in the data center. ClearCube’s new fiber technology allows government agencies to run multiple secure and non-secure networks to the desktop without concern about EMI emissions, while extending the distance between the user’s desktop and the data center. “The ClearCube fiber solution is a perfect fit for installations that are looking to further secure their networks and reduce desktop clutter,” said Richard F. Lang, Manager, Information Technology Division Intelligence Solutions Group, SAIC. “Take for example Command and Control centers where, like a majority of government installations, security is paramount. This new fiber solution will alleviate signal emanation concerns while also removing the PC clutter from the desk. Now analysts can address multiple secure networks without multiple systems at their feet.” ClearCube takes the computer off the user’s desk, shrinks it into a PC blade and rack-mounts it in a centralized and secure location up to 500 meters away using fiber. The end user maintains a complete PC experience, while IT managers can switch, manage, back up and control global PC blade deployments from a remote location. The result is a secure computing system that provides 99.9% uptime and a 30% reduction in desktop operating costs. Government agencies including Lackland AFB, Hill AFB and USNORTHCOM, already benefiting from the increased physical security of ClearCube’s centralized and managed architecture are looking to fiber to further increase their network security. Fiber secures data transmissions by eliminating electromagnetic interference emissions that can lead to network security breaches. “Government agencies have a complex set of requirements, where they need to secure physical assets and networks while still maintaining a reasonable support infrastructure,” said Pat Gallagher, Vice President of Government Sales at ClearCube Technology. “ClearCube is the only solution that works with existing fiber cabling to meet computer and network security needs while providing the added security of locking hard drives in a central location with the ability to manage them locally and remotely.”
