UK's First All PC Blade Office Powers Bank Insinger De Beaufort

Leading Anglo-Dutch Private Banking Group Deploys ClearCube PC Blade Solution to improve PC availability and reduce IT costs

London - June 3, 2005 - ClearCube Technology, the market leader and pioneer in PC Blade computing, today announced that Insinger de Beaufort, the Anglo-Dutch Private Banking Group, has implemented the UK's first all PC Blade banking environment. This landmark installation at Insinger de Beaufort's London operation serves approximately 150 PCs including 60 front office positions and has improved PC availability and significantly reduced IT costs for the prominent banking group.

An Anglo-Dutch private banking group with origins dating back to 1779 with centres in Amsterdam, London and the Channel Islands, Insinger de Beaufort operates two main divisions: private client and institutional and corporate client divisions. The group has been listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange since 1997.

The relocation within the City of London offered Insinger de Beaufort the opportunity to rethink its computing requirements and implement a best-fit solution for a modern banking environment. John Bryant, Head of UK IT said: "By selecting an all ClearCube PC Blade environment, Insinger de Beaufort London has installed an adaptable computing solution more keenly suited to our business. In a fast growing environment, recruitment of staff is frequent and we viewed ClearCube's PC Blades as the best solution to provide the flexibility to manoeuvre and deploy computing resources."

ClearCube has removed the traditional workstation from the end user's desk and replaced it with a small user port that is about the size of a paperback book. The user ports are connected via the existing cable infrastructure to PC Blades located in racks, in a central secure location. Each PC Blade contains all standard workstation components, including the latest Intel processors, memory, hard drives and video cards. The removal of desktop PCs has allowed Insinger de Beaufort to relocate within a compact facility where desktop PCs no longer clutter the work-space of employees.

Said Bryant: "With the availability and maintenance overheads removed, my IT resources are now able to focus on more proactive IT tasks. Failover and fixes no longer overwhelm us and a more business-oriented focus means the department can more effectively contribute towards the bank's bottom-line."

Bryant continued: "For the end-user, the computing experience is better than a traditional PC because they have more desk and foot space with less heat and noise".

By re-locating the computing resources back at the datacentre, Insinger de Beaufort has virtually eliminated security concerns. IT staff can easily maintain control of the PCs with a centralised environment preventing end users from tampering with hardware or software. Data security such as client-specific financial information is less of a concern as staff do not generally have access to mass-storage devices such as floppy disks and CD-Roms.

Carl Boisvert, CEO for ClearCube Technology added: "In any banking situation security and availability is fundamental. We are seeing major financial firms rethinking their PC infrastructure as they seek a solution that truly adds benefit."

Other ClearCube customers in the financial services industry include Morgan Stanley, BP Energy, Atlanta Business Bank, Bloomberg LP, Credit Suisse First Boston and The Chicago Board of Trade. The ClearCube solution is available through resellers across the UK including Business Systems Group, Business Systems International, Bladetec, Elcom, Sy and WEY Technology.
